BestBy — Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the BestBy mobile application and related services ("Service"). The Service is provided by MineSL OÜ (registry code 14538565), a company established in Estonia ("MineSL", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

BestBy helps you track the shelf life of food and household products, organise a kitchen, share a kitchen with other people, and receive reminders before items expire. Expiry dates and product information are provided by you and by public product data, and may be inaccurate or incomplete. The Service is an aid only — always check products yourself before use. We are not responsible for spoiled products, missed reminders, or decisions made in reliance on the Service.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information and be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service unlawfully or for any purpose it is not intended for; (b) attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service; (c) upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful; or (d) access the Service through automated means except as we permit. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms or put the Service or other users at risk.

4. Kitchens and shared content

If you create or join a kitchen, product and item information you add may be visible to other members of that kitchen. When you invite someone or edit shared product details, you are responsible for having the right to share that information.

5. Your content

You retain your rights in the content you add (such as product names, notes, and photos). You grant us a limited licence to store and process that content solely to operate and improve the Service. Product images you upload may be shared within your kitchen and, where the Service supports it, reused to enrich catalogue data.

6. Free and paid plans

The Service has a free plan and a paid plan ("BestBy Pro").

The free plan lets you keep one kitchen of your own, holding up to 50 products, and includes a small number of AI recipe suggestions in total. You can join kitchens other people share with you, but you cannot invite others.

BestBy Pro is a monthly subscription. It lets you keep up to 5 kitchens of your own, invite other people to them, and includes a number of AI recipe suggestions each month. Pro kitchens are described as having unlimited products; to prevent abuse there is a fair-use ceiling of 5,000 products per kitchen.

The exact price, billing period and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.

7. Payment, renewal and cancellation

Subscriptions and credit packs are sold through Apple's App Store or Google Play, depending on the device you use. Those companies take the payment and act as the seller of record; we never receive your card details.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel it. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for — you keep access until then, and are not charged again afterwards. You cancel and manage the subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings, not in the app.

If a free trial is offered and you do not cancel before it ends, the subscription begins and the first payment is taken.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. We cannot issue refunds for purchases we did not process, though we will help where we can.

8. Recipe credits

Recipe credits bought as a one-off pack are consumable: they are used up as you generate recipe suggestions. They do not expire, are tied to your account, and cannot be transferred, exchanged, or refunded once used.

The number of AI suggestions included in a plan may change if the cost of providing them changes. We will not reduce what an already-paid period includes, and credits you have bought are always honoured.

9. Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers)

As a consumer in the EU or EEA you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. By starting a subscription or using recipe credits immediately, you ask us to begin supplying digital content at once and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once supply has begun. Where the purchase was made through Apple or Google, exercise any such right through them.

10. If your subscription ends

Nothing you have added is deleted. Your kitchens and their contents remain, but kitchens beyond the free plan's limits become read-only: you can view and delete what is in them, and you choose which one kitchen stays fully usable. Adding products again works once that kitchen is within the free limit.

People you invited lose access to your kitchens while you are not subscribed. Anything they added remains in the kitchen and stays available to you.

11. Availability and changes

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

12. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, MineSL is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of profits arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you in the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably shall be settled by Harju County Court in Tallinn, unless mandatory law provides otherwise for consumers.
